Badam Balakrishna Eye Bank was established by Kakinada Eye Foundation on 14th December, 2006. Nineteen service minded people from Lions, Rotary & Jaycee's Clubs got together with an ambition to provide vision to the Corneal Blind. The foundation established its office at leased premises and acquired and philanthropists. This is a service Oriented Voluntary Organization deeply committed to combat Corneal Blindness, which is the single largest cause of blindness particularly in India.

This Eye Bank is recognised by the Government of Andhra Pradesh under Transplantation of Human Organs Act and Member of Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI). We got Income Tax exemption under section 80G of IT Act for the donation received.

We have 24 hours Corneas Retrieval facility available with four full time trained technicians and collecting Corneas in East Godavari, part of West Godavari and Visakhapatnam Districts. We have collected more than 2600 Corneas since inception of the foundation and distributed the processed Corneas to the Eye Hospitals in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.

We have conducted more than 500 Eye Donations awareness programmes and motivated the public to involve in the Eye Bank activities. We are At par with established Eye Banks in the Country in all standards. This is possible only because of the commitment of Trustees and dedicated staff.
